Arkansas IAAI Fall Conference
Our engineers will share their experiences and expertise at the Arkansas IAAI Fall Conference, October 22-24, 2024, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Here is a list of the training classes offered by Schaefer Engineering:
- Investigating Residential Electrical Systems – Rob Markiewicz, PE
- Investigation of Fuel Gas Fires and Explosions – Todd Metzger, PE
Mr. Markiewicz’s presentation discusses the role of engineers in fire and explosion investigations, the architecture of residential electrical systems including branch circuit and device configuration. There is also discussion regarding recognition of common electrical failures and ignitions sources as well as differentiating between electrical ignition sources and causation. Multiple case studies are included to provide examples of electrical deficiencies and failures that have resulted in fires.
Mr. Metzger’s course is a workshop that discusses the roles of fuel gases, specifically natural gas and LP gas, in fires and explosions. The discussion includes the topics of scene safety, scene examination, and scene documentation. Further, methods of field and laboratory testing of fuel gas systems and various associated components are reviewed. Numerous case studies providing examples of deficiencies and failures that have resulted in fires or explosions are explored during this workshop.
