Luke graduated with a General Engineering Degree from Western Illinois University in 2017 and is a licensed professional engineer in Iowa. Upon obtaining his engineering degree, Luke designed <35 kV electric distribution projects for a variety of Midwest utilities – both as a contractor and a direct hire. The project work included protective device coordination, equipment sizing, scope development, 3rd party utility and road construction conflict avoidance, materials ordering, staking, and project managerial support throughout the entire project life cycle. Luke later obtained a Master of Business Administration from Western Illinois University in 2021 while working full time.
Luke is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Central Illinois Fire Investigation Association (CIFIA). Luke joined Schaefer Engineering in 2024, performs root cause analysis for electrical contacts and has been involved in the determination of fire and explosion causation on commercial, residential, equipment and vehicular fire losses. He is a FAA Licensed Part 107 Drone Pilot with the ability to capture high-resolution aerial documentation of fire, explosion, and vehicular accident scenes.
